Obstacles to Change
Change is difficult and there are a number of reasons why we resist and struggle with changing our swings. Here are a few reasons why and what you can do about it...
1. Obstacles to positive and successful change
· Fear of change-we are creatures of habit and seek comfort through what we are familiar with and accustomed to.
· Fear of failure when changing or introducing ourselves to new frontiers
· Lack of correct concept or bad information guiding and driving our belief system
· Placing too much focus on results early in the process. Being short-sighted on progress will tend to make you revert to old patterns of behavior for the sake of immediate gratification and temporarily better results. You must take a long-term approach to improvement and keep your eyes on the big prize!!!
2. What you can do to better facilitate positive change…
· Develop an open mind to new ideas and concepts. Remember when they thought the earth was flat???
· Don’t be afraid to experiment!!! Step outside your comfort box and expand your limits. Remember, if you keep doing what you have always done you will keep getting what you have always gotten
· You must allow yourself the freedom to fail a few times when learning something new. What if you quit trying to learn to walk after falling once or twice???
· Make the effort to learn and clearly understand the correct concept of what you need to do better to improve. Nearly all recreational golfers have no clue. They are searching for darkness with a flashlight.
